Simsbury Bank Major Sponsor of Downtown YMCA's 3rd Annual Mission in Motion

March 19, 2013 - Simsbury Bank is pleased to announce that it was a major sponsor of the Downtown YMCA’s 3rd Annual Mission in Motion Cycle-a-thon to benefit the YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign.  The Cycle-a-thon was held at the XL Center in Hartford on Saturday, March 2nd.  Volunteer teams from around the Hartford region, including two from Simsbury Bank, cycled on stationary bicycles for a total of four hours in exchange for contribution pledges.  In addition to being a major sponsor of the event, Simsbury Bank raised over $1,265 in pledges by their two teams. Overall, the event raised over $22,000 for the Strong Kids Campaign for 2013.

Geitz, President and CEO of Simsbury Bank, said, “We are proud to have been a part of this terrific family event for the second year.  The event was a lot of fun for everyone and supports a great cause, the Strong Kids Programs of the YMCA.  The programs provide needed programs that serve children through education, sports and fun regardless of their family’s ability to pay.”

Kristi Kearney, Executive Director of the Downtown YMCA, said, “Through fundraisers like the Mission in Motion Cycle-a-thon, and with the help of generous sponsors and teams such as Simsbury Bank, its employees and directors, we raise funds that support our programs for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.  These programs include Read to Succeed (an adult literacy program), FootLights (a performing arts program for youth afterschool) and LIVEStrong at the Y (an exercise and education class for cancer survivors).  We sincerely appreciate the second year of involvement by Simsbury Bank, as our presenting sponsor, to this cause.”
