The directors, management and staff of The Simsbury Bank & Trust Company are concerned about and respect the privacy of consumer and customer personal financial information. We understand that our customers furnish sensitive information to the Bank in the course of daily business, and the Bank is committed to treating such information responsibly. We know that our customers expect privacy of and security for their financial affairs.
The Bank will take all the necessary steps to safeguard information that has been entrusted to us by our customers. The following privacy policy and disclosure outlines our Bank's practice regarding personally identifiable financial information for consumers and those consumers who become our customers.
At The Simsbury Bank & Trust Company we collect nonpublic personal information about you from the following sources:
- Information we receive from you on applications or other forms;
- Information about your transaction with us or others; and
- Information we receive from a consumer reporting agency
Nonpublic personal information does not include that which is available from government records, widely distributed media, or government mandated disclosures.
Types of Information the Bank Discloses
The Bank does not now, nor does it intend in the future, to disclose any nonpublic personal information about our customers or former customers to anyone, except as permitted by law.
Service Providers and Joint Marketing Ventures
The Bank may disclose all of the information we collect, as described under "Types of Information the Bank Collects" as shown above, to companies that perform marketing services on our behalf or to other financial institutions with whom we have joint marketing agreements.
The Bank will enter into a written agreement with the third party that will require the third party to maintain the confidentiality of the information in the same manner the Bank would and to restrict its use.
The Bank will not provide your personal information to companies for the purpose of their independent telemarketing or direct mail marketing of any products or services.
Safeguarding Customer Information
At The Simsbury Bank & Trust Company we restrict access to nonpublic information about you by ensuring that only employees who have a business reason for knowing information have access to it, such as those employees who need to know that information to provide products and services to you. For example, information in loan files can only be accessed by those employees who work in the loan origination or loan operations departments.
The Bank has appointed an internal Privacy Officer who is responsible for maintaining internal procedures to ensure that our customers' information is protected.
We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to guard your nonpublic personal information.
All employees have a copy of this policy and are trained at least annually regarding the importance of safeguarding customer information. The Privacy Officer, the Human Resources Manager, and the appropriate department manager will take disciplinary action against any employee who violates the Bank's privacy policy and procedures.
If we change our policy or practice by, for example, adding a category of information that we will disclose to a third party, we will notify our existing customers and give them an appropriate time period to opt out of the disclosure.

E-mail correspondence may not be secure. The Simsbury Bank urges visitors to refrain from sending confidential information such as social security numbers or account numbers through E-mail. This information is best provided by telephone, mail or in person because of its sensitive nature. |
